Echoes and Rhymes

Released

When the Primitives came back together in the late 2000s to start playing out again, there was an understandable hope that new music would result. The resultant first full-length in 2012 took a great approach that had been partially signalled on a 2011 EP – instead of originals, the band fully embraced its 1960s pop and garage roots by covering a slew of strong but little known songs performed by women or from bands with women on lead vocals, including a variety of European acts. All given the Primitives stamp, it’s a rollicking, sprightly and loud good time.
