Melvins

1986
Boner Records

Infamously initially released as Lysol, and then almost immediately retitled when said corporate brand had issues, the Melvins’ self-titled 1992 EP, consisting of six individual tracks put together as one monstrous half-hour song, remains a daunting, crushing listen. With a Flipper cover and two Alice Cooper reworks included in its overall flow, Melvins is simultaneously a tribute to forebears and a chance for that era of the band to demonstrate its trademark louder/slower/heavier than anything else chops.
