Ween

1992
Elektra

Such was the state of the music industry, rock-inclined radio and MTV in the wake of Nirvana’s breakthrough that all kinds of weird things happened in the next couple of years, one of the weirdest being Ween getting signed to Elektra and then having something of a hit with the dink soul pop weirdness of “Push Th’ Little Daisies.” But such was the power of Boognish, the duo would likely argue, and their combination of intentional dumbassery and (mostly) hum-along melodies remained intact. (An epic arena-rock standout: “Don’t Get 2 Close (2 My Fantasy).”
