Lionized almost instantly upon release and rapidly turned into a totemic album-of-the-decade, OK Computer suffers now from that weight of acclaim, an album that is important almost solely because it’s been judged to be. But as a surprisingly engaging listen that, for all its dark moods and biting sarcasm, was as close to a pop-prog smash hit album for the late 90s as existed, OK Computer fully deserved that attention, as striking songs like “Paranoid Android,” “Karma Police,” “No Surprises” and more showed.
