Nobody spends as much time on lyrics you will never understand as death metal musicians. Tomb Mold’s second full-length, Manor of Infinite Forms, contains some nicely articulated philosophical musings delivered by a hungry orc trapped in a cave. It’s all about the vibes, really, even if they’re bad ones. Thankfully these Toronto terrors understand the importance of soundtracking the ogre screams with killer leads. As much as the gore-soaked production gives the impression of primitive origins, “Blood Mirror” and “Chamber of Sacred Ootheca” feature supremely tasty riffs that help wash the offal down when the aforementioned cave beast finally sinks its teeth into a fresh, meaty carcass.
