Spacemen 3

1990
Father Yod

While not the first demos Spacemen 3 recorded, these, often called the ‘Northampton Demos,’ were the crucial ones, securing them an initial deal with Glass Records and everything that followed, leading to their various appearances first unofficially and then more-or-less officially under that admittedly perfect album title. While the band are still finding their feet they’ve got the basics down, with songs like “Sound of Confusion” (later redone as “Walking With Jesus”), “Losing Touch With My Mind” and “2:35” capturing their obsessive, heavy psych power just so.
