We Love Life

Pulp

2001
Island Records

Having invoked the spirit of Scott Walker more than once on This Is Hardcore, the commercial suicide album that if anything freed Pulp from having to think about playing to the mainstream ever again, the group got Walker himself on board to produce their final album We Love Life. If said previous album’s enthralling if still crushing artistic highs weren’t replicated, songs like “The Trees,” “Sunrise” and the amazing metamusic similes of “Bad Cover Version” were still stirring ways for the band to wrap up as Jarvis Cocker began various solo projects soon after.
