50,000 Fall Fans Can’t Be Wrong: 39 Golden Greats

Recorded
1977-2003
Released

So utterly sprawling and defying easy summary was the work of the Fall that there was nothing that the 2004 2-CD compilation 50,000 Fall Fans Can’t Be Wrong could do but only cherry pick across decades. But in both its original and in a later 3-CD edition with even more selections up to the final studio album before Smith’s death, it’s the best thing to a general precis as will ever exist, able to showcase various later standouts like the Lee Perry cover “Why Are People Grudgeful?” and “Touch Sensitive” along with legendary earlier tracks like “Hip Priest” and “Hit the North.”
