9½ Weeks [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack]

Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke were never sexier than co-starring in the mid-’80s erotic romance, 9½ Weeks. (Rourke would try again, in Angel Heart, Wild Orchid and Another 9½ Weeks.) For viewers who wanted the heat to last, there was the soundtrack. Joe Cocker’s cover of “You Can Leave Your Hat On” became a striptease anthem due to strategic placement in the film; another excellent cover, Devo’s “Bread and Butter,” recalls the movie’s sensual kitchen scene; Eurythmics’ “This City Never Sleeps”—imported from Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)—gelled perfectly with the soundtrack’s mood. Sexy is as sexy sounds.
