A Rush of Blood to the Head
Released
When Coldplay was Coldplay. Following up a powerful debut, Parachutes, with another Grammy-winning album full of top 40 singles (“Clocks,” “In My Place,” “The Scientist”) in 2002, these British rockers collected comparisons to U2 and Oasis — even as lead singer Chris Martin started dating Hollywood princess Gwyneth Paltrow. Later albums consigned the group to elevator music; Martin and Paltrow married and divorced as the millions who made Coldplay multiplatinum largely outgrew the band. But the brilliance of their sophomore album speaks for itself.
