Mysterious beat fella from Manchester does his thing yet again, this time a little bit more in the light. There are some 808 workouts and nice layering of footwork patterns and just light and loopy keyboard work. What makes Blood important is his deft sense of space and where things do and do not go. As anonymous as instrumental beat music can be, you could spot Blood’s claves and woodblocks. A track like “JB6,” heck, I will stay up at least three hours past my bedtime for things like this: long, held chord that splits into an unpredictable flowerburst of harmony, lashed to an uneven squelch beat. I love Blood’s chaos!
