Adventures in Afropea

Released

The debut album from Zap Mama, at the time an a cappella vocal group led by Congolese-Belgian singer Marie Daulne, Adventures in Afropea, offers a delightful and dizzying array of truly unique songs, all featuring nothing but human voices and drawing on everything from American funk and soul to Pygmy chants, Cuban son, and even European polyphony. The arrangements are complex and highly creative, and the whole album is just tons of fun.
