The meteoric 1960s career of the Walker Brothers, the trio of American not-actually-siblings who ended up in the UK having a series of smash hits in a kind of reverse British Invasion, was a chaotic rush of singles and uneven albums, making the 1990 compilation After The Lights Go Out serve as a handy introduction to those years. Thanks to his later solo successes Scott Walker’s abilities loom especially large on such hit covers as “Make It Easy On Yourself” and “The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore” and striking originals like “Archangel.”
