All Hail the Queen

Released

Later in her career, Queen Latifah emerged as a triple-threat rapper/singer/actor but on her debut LP, All Hail the Queen, she put the world on notice as an MC first and foremost. Though the feminist anthem “Ladies First” became the LP’s biggest hit, Latifah showcased a range of skills, from braggadocio (“Wrath of My Madness”) to social commentary (“Evil That Men Do”) to dabbling in hip-house (“Come Into My House”), all backed by the under-sung 45 King of the Flavor Unit whose beats were as dynamic as Latifah’s verses.
