Bloodsports

Suede

2013
Warner Bros. Records

The history of reunion efforts and new albums in rock and roll is somewhat spotty at best, but with 2013’s Bloodsports Suede began a run that rivaled the second acts of Roxy Music and Wire for both consistent strength and adding to an already rich canon. Barrelling out of the gate with the confident kick of “Barriers,” Bloodsports shows the band leaning into their ability at both songs that swagger as well as moody ballads, Brett Anderson’s lyrics moving beyond earlier crutches, and just delivering it once more on “It Starts And Ends With You” and “Faultlines.”
