One assumes that after Massive Attack made Horace Andy a comfortable reference for outsiders who wanted to get closer to reggae, the floodgates really opened. This, the second volume of the series, presents twenty-seven (!) different remixes of Andy tracks, mostly three songs in particular: “Skylarking,” “Money,” and “Cuss Cuss.” Madaski, Black Star Liner and Noiseshaper all hold their own and then some. This set is especially good if you just let it roll and ignore the fact you’re hearing the same lyrics again and again. As counterintuitive as it sounds, and as much as I love Andy’s voice, I’d love a dub of the dub, with all twenty-seven tracks stripped of vocals.
