Brother, Brother, Brother

Released

Since leaving Motown in 1968 The Isley Brothers’ had released a few albums packed full of Ohio funk, rock/R’n’B and soul. On Brother, Brother, Brother, they again showcased the acoustic-pastoral-soul-rock sound they’d developed since moving on from the Detroit label, characterised by whirling Hammond organ, acoustic guitars and Latin percussion. The Isleys were always good at reinterpreting others’ material and do a great job here with several of Carole King’s songs while their own ‘Work To Do’ is a perfect blend of funk and singer/songwriter acoustic guitar.
