Burnt Offering

You wouldn’t necessarily expect something this funky out of Staten Island. Budos Band uses their unique alchemy to mix together Afrobeat, jazz, and proto-metal into a mind-melting brew. No vocals to ruin the concoction, either! It’s like if Ennio Morricone arranged a Black Sabbath recording session — and not doomy sludgy Sabbath; weird proggy jazzy Sabbath. Their fourth album brings in a little more heaviness without losing the swing that makes their sacrificial ritual so intoxicating. Living proof that more factors unite music than divide it.
