Cascade

Released

Following the departure of his backing band the Hundred Men after the tour for Holy Smoke, Peter Murphy retained his main collaborator Paul Statham and aimed for a sound that was at once sweepingly romantic and had just enough of a nod to the politer side of mainstream electronic efforts of the mid-90s. Pascal Gabriel’s production was perfectly suited for it all, and a number of Murphy’s strongest solo efforts appear through the engaging Cascade, including “Subway,” the soaring “Wild Birds Flock to Me” and the intense “I’ll Fall With Your Knife.”
