Such was BUCK-TICK’s consistent popularity in Japan over decades that numerous compilations appeared as a result; 1995’s singles collection Catalogue 1987-1995 is a helpful capturing of their early imperial phase, with nearly all selections being top ten hits if not higher. The opening one-two of “Just One More Kiss” and “Aku No Hana,” their sole chart topper, captures exactly why they broke big, with a giddy energy nodding equally to poppy hooks, metal and post-punk; equally great are moodily propulsive songs like “Die” and the flowing “Dress.”
