Dank 'N' Dirty Dubz 4/20

Released

If you want a good introduction to the contemporary sounds of old-school dubstep, this sampler from the Dank ‘N’ Dirty label is a great place to start. It features contributions from artists you may have heard of (ENiGMA Dubz, The Widdler) along with some that will likely be new to you (mrshl, Aztec), and each of them casts a slightly different angle of dark light on the spacious, moody, and sometimes downright despondent vibe that characterizes all the best dark dubstep. Enjoy the Lee “Scratch” Perry sample embedded in Dillard’s “Waved,” the dancehall-meets-2-step flavor of Blasta’s “Fi Bun,” and Arta’s elephantine and steppers-derived “Wobble Board Dub,” along with many other highlights.
