Disco Dancer [Original Soundtrack]

The quasi-title track, “I Am a Disco Dancer,” was a turning point for Bollywood Disco, bringing the movie it came from huge success at home. The song is one of the more restrained of the era, largely sticking to a few motifs and instruments. Its strength is in its simplicity, however, with repetitive lyrics and indelible melodies. The rest of the album is more typically stuffed with ideas, with the sunny “Krishna Dharti Pe Aaja Too” and the mechanistic “Yaad Aa Raha Hai” being standouts.
