Dobrinka Tabakova: String Paths cover
Released

String Paths is the first survey of music by Bulgarian-born, London-based composer Dobrinka Tabakova. Ukrainian violist-conductor Maxim Rysanov, notable proponent of Kancheli and other composers of our time, has become one of Tabakova’s strongest advocates, and his leading of the Suite in Old Style (for solo viola, harpsichord, and strings) glows with a championing spirit. Works spanning the spectrum from micro (Insight for string trio) to macro (Concerto for Cello and Strings) reveal the depth of a composer who truly listens. Of special note is the evocative chamber piece Frozen River Flows (2005) for violin, accordion, and double bass.
