Doom (Original Game Soundtrack)
Released
Doom (2016) may be the most metal videogame ever released – demons and hell imagery and chainsaws abound. Mick Gordon’s soundtrack fits the visuals, bringing in giant djent guitar crunch and ominous synthesizers to fuel your adrenaline as you twist the heads off monsters twice your size before pumping rockets down their neck holes. His canny remixing, updating, and sampling of songs and sound effects from the original 1993 game offers bloody Easter eggs to the most fervent Doomguys, but you don’t need to be a gamer to appreciate this masterpiece of digital brutality.
