Dub Side of the Moon

Released

This was the album that launched a whole franchise, and it’s hard to believe that it didn’t start out as just kind of a lark: the Easy Star All Stars, America’s premier reggae studio band, decided to recruit some similarly A-list vocalists and record a reggae version of the Pink Floyd prog-rock classic Dark Side of the Moon. With singers and chatters like Sluggy Ranks, Ranking Joe, and Dr. Israel on board, they ended up with a surprise hit on their hands — one that succeeded well enough to spark a whole series of similar projects. Even if you’re not a Floyd fan, this tribute is well worth checking out.
