El Shirota
Released
After debuting with a rough-and-tumble garage rock EP titled Chiluca No Es Satelite, Mexico’s El Shirota took a turn into new territory without forgetting their anarchic roots. Two of the four tracks that make this EP—“Listo (El Tornillo)” and “Saqué siete”—keep their primordial punk flame burning, but the other two tunes find new doors to kick wide open. “No Quiero” features improvisational jagged chords like with Confusion Is Sex-era Sonic Youth while “Intro” is an exercise in motorik rhythms, fuzzed-out guitars, and euphoric minimalism.
