False Lankum

Released

Much as the pale faced young men of the British Blues boom had with Delta blues in the 1960s, Dublin’s Lankum are at the forefront of a group of artists breathing fresh life into traditional folk music and their fourth album digs deep into the visceral, bloody and at times terrifying roots of the genre. The apocalyptic clank of album opener “Go Dig My Grave” sounds like it’s been dredged up from the depths of Hades, while elsewhere centuries old songs speak down through the ages with a haunting, gothic intensity that feels more alive and pertinent in 2023 than almost any other contemporary music.
