Fourth album from versatile UK hybrid-afro-jazz outfit Nubiyan Twist, who integrate soul, hip hop, reggae and R’n’B into their upbeat, positive and danceable sound. Guest appearances include Nile Rodgers on standout glitterball-soul-jazz single Lights Out, Egypt 80 band leader Seun Kuti on the fiery afro-beat Carry Me, Ghanaian vocalist and multi-instrumentalist K.O.G. on the jubilant afro jam Pray For Me Part 2, while Part 1, an effortless blend of afro, jazz and hip hop, features UK rapper NEONE. Nubiyan Twist’s four-piece brass section, although clearly perfectly capable of soaring solos as on Carry Me, often instead create elegant, opulent ensemble lines and punchy, swinging riffs, perfectly slotted into the spaces between the layers of interlocking bass, guitar and percolating drums and percussion. Whether building up to big-energy crescendos or locking into super-tight grooves, Find Your Flame feels organic, thick, juicy even, packed with musical ideas, overflowing with fat brass riffs, joyful vocals, and with expert playing lying in every corner of the mix.
