Glam
Released
Originally recorded as the soundtrack to the Josh Evans film of the same name, and then subsequently rejected by the director, Glam is singular in the Mouse On Mars discography, and one of their finest efforts. No doubt dictated partly by circumstance, the fifteen tracks on Glam tend to develop more slowly, ruminatively, but the textures are ravishing, the melodies (when they appear) glitteringly sweet, the rhythms submerged and capsized by the blissful textural hypnosis of much of the music here. It all builds to a gorgeous finale with “Glim”, originally available as a b-side on the Cache Coeur Naif single, and perhaps one of their most rapturous songs, a chaunt for the very moment of sunrise.
