Few producers go quite as hard as DJ Plead, and his 2020 Going For It EP might just be his hardest. With his signature bassy, hard drum club style he combines strands of UK Funky, broken beat techno, echoes of dubstep and UK garage with the heavy rhythms and weaving synthesizers of dabke, the levantine folk dancing usually performed at weddings. The four tracks on the EP are relentlessly percussive whirlwinds that draw you in, throw you around, and spit you back out, leaving you wondering where the hell you’ve just been.
