Gustavo Leguizamón: El Cuchi Bien Temperado

Released

Argentine composer Gustavo Leguizamón, a.k.a. “Cuchi” (an ancient Quechua word meaning “pig”), is the subject of this series of 24 arrangements by guitarist Pablo Márquez. Inspired by Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier, these pieces cast new light on Cuchi’s rousing zambas and lyrical vidalas. Life-giving energies come across in every gesture, whether coaxing the strings into loving submission or bowing to their electrical charge. Hopefully, this unique program will inspire a deeper and more widespread interest in a composer rarely heard outside his homeland.
