Hang On In There

Released

This superb soul album from 1972 never achieved the success it deserved on release. Hard to find for years, it was eventually re-issued in the 90s, its funky rhythms, quality orchestration and Kirkland’s clear, clean voice proving to be popular on its rediscovery. It’s conscious soul music, dealing with the issues of the day, preaching peace and love and the songs are all characterised by a tight, percolating rhythm section, mixing the serious message with dance floor accessibility. ‘Hang On In There’ is the best of seventies sweet soul music, full of the inspirational melodies and heart-wrenching chord changes that characterises the best of the genre.
