Having a Rave Up with the Yardbirds

Released

Beginning life as a straight-up blues pastiche band, most of this ’65 album is RnB and blues material, but The Yardbirds were also experimenting with folk-rock, psychedelia and even mock-gregorian chant here and guitarist Jeff Beck was pushing the boundaries of what could be done with the blues / R’n’B template too. It’s a transitional record in UK sixties rock with Beck and the band taking Bo Diddly’s R’n’B standard ‘I’m A Man’ and turning the second half into a proto-hard rock jam. Quality mid-60s British rock mixed with faithful blues and R’n’B covers.
