Heartland
Released
Owen Pallett has created a violent fantasy world in Heartland, where they are inundated with questions and one-sided arguments from their creation, a farmer named Lewis, about the nature of Being and the world around them. You don’t necessarily need to buy into the metanarrative of this album to reap the rewards just from the surface, but it is a lush yet tightly-wound world to submerge oneself in. From the galloping percussion and strings of “Midnight Directives” and the terrifying drone of “Mount Alpentine” to the downright poppy — both classical (“Lewis Takes Action”) and modern (“Lewis Takes Off His Shirt”) — this is a trek for the open minded sort with a lust for danger and discovery.
