Dawson is the deeply eccentric English singer and songwriter, and Circle is the deeply prolific Finnish band that Dawson has long admired. During and before the pandemic, Dawson and Circle collaborated on this exuberantly weird album that functions like a classic 20th century prog album manifesting in the now: complex melodies alternating with long droney bits, all driven by deeply specific lyrics that hint at a not entirely clear worldview. Dawson watches people be swallowed by trees and talks about fungi, and all the songs are named after plants. I think of prog as rural? I do, and that may not be accurate so forgive me, prog experts. A lot of tuned-in playing and beefy elf vocals.
