Hologram of Baal

Released

With Magician Among the Spirits causing everything to click again for the Church as a full band they went for it even more on the following Hologram of Baal, as successful an argument for rock and roll maturity, however defined, as one could want for a group then approaching its twentieth anniversary. Steve Kilbey’s trippy but always evocative singing and lyrical approach seemed to really live in the arrangements, and the flow of songs like “Anaesthesia” and “Tranquility” was further matched by a bonus disc of full-on instrumental jams.
