How Good It Is
Rarely has a record been so needed. Dropping in the middle of 2022, in the midst of war, drought and all round approaching disaster, these six tracks are as potent a statement of the resilience of the human spirit as you could ever need. The Voices Of Creation is an LA community choir of more or less untrained singers put together by Jimetta Rose, who has been the de facto voice of the Californian beat scene (singing and arranging for Kamasi Washington, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Sa-Ra Creative Partners, Shafiq Husayn, as well as Brits like Quantic and 4Hero‘s Marc Mac). This record channels the rawest expressions of spiritual jazz and gospel, with interpolations of Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Galt MacDermot and Funkadelic, and is a near failsafe salve for the soul. It can lift the mood of any space, and is truly one for the ages.
