For her second album, 2018’s Hundreds Of Days harpist Mary Lattimore placed the exquisite beauty of her playing within a gentle ambient sound world that fell nothing short of heavenly. 11-minute opener “Feels Like Floating” does exactly what it says on the tin — its repeated melodic loops blown along by ethereal voices, birdsong and new age washes of synth — “Their Faces Streaked With Light And Filled With Pity” combines the intricate traditional music of Japan with phased guitar work reminiscent of The Durutti Column, while the more sparse “Hello From The Edge Of Earth” proved that Lattimore only really needs a harp to achieve transcendence. Sublime.
