In Pursuit Of The 13th Note
Released
The first album from UK acid jazz outfit Galliano has a joyful innocence to it, a lightness that was perceived by some as poppy, but compared to many dance music albums from 1991 it stands up very well. Besides, alongside the sweet-soul sampling acid jazz/rap there are plenty of decidedly un-poppy tracks consisting of little more than beats and rhymes. It’s an interesting album in the history of UK dance music with Galliano one of the first acts to make a good job of creating an entire album of new songs from old via some adept sampling.
