A sumptuous entirely instrumental album from label boss, producer and musician Paul Mudd, In The Garden…’s palette is electric pianos, gently pulsing synth pads, wriggling Moog leads, funky clavinets and a languid but superbly tight rhythm section. The feel is a perfectly seasoned blend of contemporary jazz funk/fusion, kosmische, psychedelic soul and soft rock. Sounding a little like Steely Dan bumped into Steve Wonder, found some MDMA, and made a Balearic album, In The Garden… is a sonic joy, every single perfectly played and programmed part fitting neatly into its place, an album so well put together it has an instant familiarity.
