Canadian singer Elisapie’s fourth solo effort, 2023’s Inuktitut, is an engaging, remarkable act of creative reclamation, offering a variety of performances of classic rock and pop efforts from the last decades of the twentieth century translated into Inuit throughout. On top of her transforming of radio memories while growing up in the far north conveyed through her fine singing voice, the musical performances are quietly transformative, low-key but never lo-fi or without subtle energy, whether it be Queen, Metallica, Cyndi Lauper or Fleetwood Mac.
