Jane’s Addiction

Released

The first Jane’s Addiction album was practically a curio, though a formative one: released on the LA label Triple X even while they were already doing the dance with Warner Bros., the self-titled release was a live album further supplemented by various studio and audience overdubs. If not entirely a live or studio demo, it’s still an enjoyable listen of some of the band’s earliest work, including the energetic “Trip Away,” the contemplative “I Would For You” and a version of their early demo smash “Jane Says” as well as some Rolling Stones and Velvet Underground covers.
