Jarrod Fowler draws absolutely no separation between his work in arts and science. The field biologist lists all of his accomplishments together on his website, with research papers in horticulture and entomology sitting alongside audio experiments like it makes total sense to do so. He seems to approach music with a similar rigor to science, and the notes he’s written for his album Jarra Fowlea all but confirms. Rather than detailing his inspiration or explaining his thoughts, he’s simply elected to list his sound sources—which mostly include, strangely, audio from the anime Mushishi—and the equipment he used. It’s as if he’s inviting you to replicate the results for yourself and peer review them.
