Committed to sonic destruction in its purest form, Tokyo trio Guitar Wolf pushed their fifth album so far into the red that Matador put a warning label on it. It’s an ugly burst of garage rock noise for sure — and this particular garage is currently under renovation via wrecking ball. The sheer amplifier abuse rivals Metal Machine Music. There’s something charming about these lupine lunatics, though. Quasi-competent punk ’77 tantrums like “Kung Fu Romance” and “Cosmic Space Girl” make for delightful Q-tip alternatives.
