One thing that’s fun about the kraut/kosmische gang is they really do wander all over each other’s records. Here, Klaus Schulze returns on drums for two long krautmische blends. There are moments of this era where the German bands wander into Funkadelic territory, or vice versa, suggesting a transatlantic kosmic konnection. Schulze was no Dinger or Liebezeit—he was simply not a very accurate drummer, but rather a force and feel buddy. This is also one of the few kosmische records that is largely a trio, Schulze and Göttsching paired with Hartmut Enke on bass. Maybe my favorite bit about these records is how unabashedly they enjoy the jamming, which they seem to believe will actually save us all. The feel is impeccable here.
