Just The Way You Like It

Released

Produced by ‘80s soul powerhouse production duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis at the height of their powers, Just The Way You Like It is a deft combination of Jam and Lewis’ ultra-modern beatbox-soul sound, a set of half-pretty, half-melancholy songs and some of vocalist Mary Davis’ sweetest and most plaintive performances. It’s almost all dance floor material apart from a great example of mid-80s ‘quiet storm’ in the shape of “I Don’t Want Nobody Else” and is worth the entry fee for emotive 808 heartbreaker “Weekend Girl” alone.
