Jeddah-born, Dublin veteran DJ Moving Still draws on his arabic heritage and blends it with elements of global club culture, from chill balearic to glitzy Italo Disco. Opener “Kunafa King” is a mellow slowburner that guilds around light, mizmar-like percussion and vintage midi sounds before expanding into a carefree dancefloor jam. “Hayati 89” completely changes gears with its neon Italo beats, before switching it up again with the heavier drums and acid atmospheres of the hallucinogenic “La Titasil Feeya.” This, together with the tenebrous synths of “Haram Odyssey” is probably one of the darker moments on this otherwise sunlit, breezy EP.
