Kettle Whistle
Released
The first of many Jane’s Addiction reunions to follow did produce a notable accompanying album: Kettle Whistle, one of two archival collections, along with the much later comprehensive A Cabinet of Curiosities box set, delving further into the explosion of activity and material they created in the late 1980s and early 1990s at their subcultural peak. A couple of older songs get new versions with the late 1990s lineup, but it’s the selection of stellar live cuts — the band often took their songs to a next level there — and intriguing rarities that makes the album worthy.
