King Size Dub Special: Dubmatix

This special installment in the Echo Beach label’s King Size Dub series features the work of Jess King (a.k.a. Dubmatix). A Canadian producer with lots of original work as well as remixes to his credit, we find him here reworking classic reggae tracks by Linval Thompson (“Peace & Love”), Cornell Campbell (“She’s In Love”), Mykal Rose (“Easy Down”) and others, but there’s also lots of original music. His rhythmic choices range all over the place, from four-on-the-floor steppers beats to trap, techno, and hip hop-inflected rockers. All of it is characterized by a rich and spacious production style.
