Summoned from the darkest reaches of Ventura, California, Cirith Ungol’s brand of mutant metal sounds like nothing before or since. Taking inspiration more from the sword and sorcery sagas by Michael Moorcock and Robert E. Howard than the high fantasy one they got their name from, their sound matches the primal ugliness of Elric and Conan’s ancient stomping grounds. Their journeys through the ruins are just as thrilling, though.
